Welcome Baby Emmie!

Emmie Karalena Mahe arrived at 5:59AM on Wednesday May 27, 2009. She weighed 8lbs. 7oz. and was 19 inches long. She's such a good baby! She sleeps really well and hardly ever cries. But she does have a set of pipes, so when she does cry...you hear it!

This is the hat I made her while I was in the early stages of labor. It turned out cute, but it was a little bit small on her head.

Ellie and Trey were the first ones to get to visit - Evie had school, so she had to come later.

Trey was very concerned that the flash was hurting the baby's eyes. Here he is telling Junior to stop! Protective big brother already.
Ellie was thrilled, she has wanted a little sister from the start.

This new baby stuff is old hat for Evie now. She's a great big sister.
My mom came in from Texas on Tuesday night, so it was wonderful having her there for the birth!
Emmie was a little bit jaundiced, so once we got home they brought over some "bili-lights" that she had to sleep under. Here she is in her little tanning bed.
And this is what she looks like now at 5 days old.
Welcome welcome Emmie! We're so glad you're here!

Ellie's Mother's Day Program.

Sometimes there just aren't words to describe my little Ellie. But luckily for me, now I have these pictures. These were taken during her preschool class' Mother's Day program. If you'll notice, the other kids are sweetly singing the Mother's Day songs that the teacher had prepared - and to be fair, occasionally Ellie would sing along. But she would quickly get bored of that and start making these ridiculous faces. There's really no rhyme or reason to why she was doing this, that's just my Ellie.
I recently caught her sitting on the roof. The fearless little monkey may just make me bar the windows of my house. Oh - and Ezra, if you're reading this, Ellie asks me daily if she can go use the gray bathroom..it took me a few days to figure out what she was talking about until I drove by the park and she pointed and asked again. So you have at least one little customer waiting.

I looked out the window and what did I see?

I have no idea if this is an apricot tree, but it looked enough like popcorn that I snapped a picture. On Thursday I took the 2 little ones to the gardens at Thanksgiving Point. I know - I jumped back on the saddle after the disaster last time. The kids had a great time, the only real snafu was when they tried to jump in the water falls, so we had to leave the tulip festival side and go back to the children's side. It was such a beautiful day, I was ALMOST fooled into thinking spring had arrived. But the snow that fell today convinced me otherwise.

Trey has decided that big boys use their pockets. This is how he likes to walk around now.

This was only seconds before they tried to jump into the waterfall.

Where's Ellie? So many flowers!

Ellie wasn't thrilled to be wearing the big floppy flower headband that I made her, but she was a good sport about letting me take pictures anyway.
Another successful outing. Mary Poppins. Psh.

A little bit of this and that.

Been busy - haven't felt like blogging. So sue me.

While Junior was away at Harvard for a business program the week before Easter, I tried to keep the kids busy with crafts and fun things at night so they wouldn't miss him so much. Well, while decorating paper mache eggs that we had painted, Ellie decided to take an entire bottle of glitter (which is not cheap, I might add) and dump it in her hair. It's 2 weeks later and I'm still finding traces when I wash her hair.

Trey has decided that this is his "picture face". I'm not exactly sure what he's trying to do, possibly wink? It makes him look a little bit scared and a little bit crazy. Anytime you try to take a picture of him though, this is what he does. Evie was able to attend her very first real tea party thanks to Norah Griffiths. She got all dressed up in her party dress and fancy hat and had a fantastic time being girly.

This was a picture of a trip to the farm at Thanksgiving Point. They had a fun Easter craft and a real live bunny for the kids to pet. This was a successful outing.

And now I know the difference. Last Thursday I took these three monkeys to the dinosaur museum. All was going well until I decided to add in a special treat and take them to see the 3D movie... There happened to be a field trip of 150 middle school kids in the theater too - which I thought would be fine since no one would notice the noise from my kids. But instead, about 1/2 way through, Trey decided that he'd had enough and threw a tantrum. So now these field trippers were road blocks to the exit that I needed to get to. As I made my way over rows of stadium seating, trying to find a safe route, Trey (still in full tantrum) decided to flail around and banged his face on an arm rest. Now he was fully screaming in pain as well as impatience. We got out of the theater and I found that he had given himself a bloody nose. A gusher. So I dragged my troop off to the bathroom to clean him up. Ellie decided that now would be the perfect time to give herself a tour of the museum without Mom to slow her down. I finally tracked down Ellie, who was now starting a tantrum of her own because we would not be getting the ice cream that we had talked about getting. Trey's nose bled the entire way home and I got home and burst into tears. Some days I really hate Mary Poppins.

Pudgy.

So, I'm about 6 1/2 months pregnant and finally starting to look pregnant. But Tuesday night at mutual one of my sweet Beehives who didn't know that I was pregnant until then said to me (3 different times throughout the night) "I thought you looked a little pudgy on Sunday!"

Pregnant or not, I feel I can speak with some authority when I say that no woman ever wants to be called or compared to or resemble that word. So here's to my skinny days in all my spandexed glory.

Fortunately/Unfortunately

I thought this was kind of funny. You go to google and type: Fortunately, __________(your name) and press enter or unfortunately and then see what comes up. Here's a few of my faves.

Fortunately Sunny became clean by 2000.
Fortunately Sunny is moved into Auntie Rose's house to recuperate.
Fortunately, Sunny grabbed a light sheet from her bed before heading out to the park.
Fortunately Sunny didn't need such drastic measures over the chocolate that day.
Fortunately, Reno's timing is impeccable, and his presence evens up the odds a bit.
Fortunately Reno's got no patience.

Unfortunately, Sunny also manages to land herself on the national news.
Unfortunately, Sunny bit her tongue in the process and was now bleeding quite heavily.
Unfortunately, Sunny suffered from bladder stones.
Unfortunately, Sunny loses her eggs to Gadzooks before he gets to Town.
Unfortunately, Reno does not have a plethora of horse-drawn carriages, but what it does have is the Nutcracker.
Unfortunately, Reno can't save a late attempt at romantic inclinations towards Fanny which seem to come out of nowhere.
